Pinky Flat Adelaide 1920's

Pinky Flat was  an area on the banks of the River Torrens in Adelaide.  There is early history of it being a very central area for Aboriginal camps, hunting, meeting place  - certainly up to about 1912 when Council and politicians decided to "Banish" all aboriginals from living within city areas. Though there have never been any buildings on it, it is even now a venue for many entertainment events.  What I am interested in is any information whatsoever around the 1920's - 30's.  Trove has very little, - certainly it seems to have been an area where the "Pink wine" - - cheap wine drinking was very popular - but I am finding hardly anything at all as to "Happenings"  of any sort, whether from an aboriginal or "white-fella" point of view.  Does anyone have any ideas at all?? Maybe the State Library would be the way.

Have you looked further than the newspapers?

A general search in all categories “pinky flat” brings up a number of items in the index, which you would need to access through a library.

Hi Neale,

Have looked at State Library... State records... not well versed in how to use them, but not coming up with hardly anything around the relevant time - except for a couple of photos in 1928 and 1938....   I wonder if there are any aboriginal records??  or records specifically relating to them???
