Alan -

I think this is the Ada living at Stratford that the man was referring to but she would he 10 years to old to be your Ada

Ada Golding
Christening Date    19 Jan 1887
Christening Place    Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England
Father    John Golding
Mother    Kate Golding

But the info that Heywood posted does make me think that the Hodges family changed their surname to Goulding/Golding between 1901 and 1911  and as Heywood found were living together in 1911 https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWWQ-1SV

The Worcester Chronicle has a few articles which mention Charles Hodges - May/not be him, of course.
However, there is a snippet - 2nd May 1896
‘Maintenance - Charles Hodges of Upton… charged with allowing his wife … Union’

Well found - reason for move and name change??

Well that is brilliant thank you all. I will try and get that newspaper snippet from 2/5/1896.

The man from Ancestry will be really surprised.

Elizabeth Hicks married John Goulding 1855 Upton

Elizabeth Goulding married William Hodges 1858 Ringwood

Charles Hodges 1865 Upton mmn Heeks

William Goulding 1859 Upton mmn Hicks.

That shows you are correct. They changed their name to Golding but infact it should have been Goulding.

Spellings were often changed: literacy levels, the person recording the name etc.
They are Goulding in 1911.
