Ada Elizabeth Golding
« on: Saturday 23 December 23 21:41 GMT (UK) »
Horace Frederick Green my grandmother's brother born 20/1/1900 Meriden, married in 1919 Tamworth district Ada Elizabeth Golding born 11/1/1896(1939 register living in Birmingham) in 1921 they were living in Coleshill it says Ada was born in Upton on Severn.
Their four children's births say mmn Golding.

I am looking to find her birth and where she was in 1901 and 1911 and hopefully that will give me her parents as well.

Alan :)

She’s tricky isn’t she.
I can only see the Golding/Dance births in Upton upon Severn reg district in the 1890s, and they can be accounted for later with no one who might have changed their name to Ada.

What does the marriage certificate say?

Probably unrelated but just in case - there is the one Ada Elizabeth that I can see born in Upton on Severn in March qtr 1896  although surname Hodges :-\  (Bapt 1 March 1896 at Upton)

1901
Harriet M Hodges 39 Wife Upton on Severn
Florence E Hodges 10 Daughter
Charles W Hodges 8 Son b Upton On Severn
Ada E Hodges 5 Daughter b Upton on Severn

By 1901 the father Charles Thomas Hodges born 1863 Welland Worcs has disappeared and I can't see the rest of the family post 1901 with the exception of the son Charles William who joins the Royal Irish Rifles in 1915 and lists his mother Harriett as living at 45 Oxford St Smethwick and father Charles address as unknown??

Maybe a coincidence but in 1921 there is a Harriet Golding of the right age and birthplace to be Harriet Hodges - a patient in Walsall Workhouse :-\

Harriet’s address is Walsall on the military record and there is this entry in 1911 for Ada Goulding with mother Harriet in Walsall.

Hi Kay.

I have her in 1921 with her husband living at Coleshill.

While I was at the records a week ago, There was a person there from Midland Ancestry and he came and spoke to me and I told him I was looking for Ada. So he said give me the details and I will have a look for you and I will see you next Friday. So he came as I was about to leave and he said he could find an Ada Golding born 1886 Q4. bapt. 1887 in Stratford upon Avon parents John and Kate. I couldn't look that up yet because I had to go.

The Worcester Chronicle has a few articles which mention Charles Hodges - May/not be him, of course.
However, there is a snippet - 2nd May 1896
‘Maintenance - Charles Hodges of Upton… charged with allowing his wife … Union’

wonder if William Goulding b 1893 is Charles William Hodges? I would think so.
