He appears on the 1939 register (birth date the same as on his baptism record) at Wigston. He is a carriage washer (London, Midland and Scottish Railway).

There are a few newspaper articles about Leslie - fined for receiving a stolen door in 1940; standing for local council (looks like some detailed biographies) etc. I can see snippets on findmypast. If you don't have a subscription you can pay per view, or public libraries often have access to findmypast or British Newspaper Archive.

Leicester Evening Mail
04 May 1950  Has a photograph.

1957 papers have quite a number of in memoriam notices with names

He was in Countesthorpe in 1921, with his parents and five siblings.

The Electoral Register for 1921 give his address as Leicester Road, Countesthorpe. Occupiers: Joseph Henry and Agnes Jane Wells.
The Electoral Registers for 1922-26 give his address as 7, Council Houses, Station Road, Countesthorpe.

From 1927-31, Agnes Jane is still at the same address but the occupiers are Agnes Jane and her son Cyril Alfred.

His parents were living apart in 1939 and Agnes married John Peet in 1955, Joseph having died in 1952 in Thurmaston area.
