George Smith and Alice Wright
« on: Thursday 18 January 24 11:06 GMT (UK) »
I'm very new to this and trying to find out as much as I can about my father's (deceased) biological parents. The only information I have is as follows

George Smith - in 1942 lived at 10 Percy Street, Liverpool and worked at ROF Kirby.  He later moved back to his mothers address at 37 Falkner Square, Liverpool round these years.  I dont have anymore information that this unfortunately so am struggling with my research.

Alice Wright 1942 lived at 9 Ullet Road, Liverpool.  She moved back to live with her mother Alice Wright from around 1943 at 150 Dodds Lane, Maghull.  Married John Sullivan in August 1942 at Mount Pleasant Registry Office and set up home with her mother until about 1945. Again my research is drying up as apparently she moved by 1947.

Any help and guidance would be much appreciated thank you for reading  my post

Welcome to RootsChat. :)

It could help if we had the ages for Alice, George and John Sullivan.
Do you have the two marriage certificates for Alice? If you do can you give us the details from them eg ages, occupations, addresses, witnesses names. Father's names and occupations. As it is I am not getting anywhere with the search because none of the names are unusual enough to stand out from the crowd,  :)

Electoral Registers shows:
37 Falkner Square
1945 Edward G Smith
1940 May Smith
1934/35 Frederick Smith
In 1920s Frederick Smith

This looks like older members  in 1911

The couple are there in 1901.
I don’t think they had children though but Mary Smith did.

I hope this makes sense.

I would proceed with caution though.
As crisane points out, you are dealing with a common name.
Frederick Smith of 37 Falkner Square died in 1936 in a eston, Cheshire. His probate record shows his effects to be very valuable.
After that, records indicate that 37 was flats/rooms.
Your George may not have been related to Frederick.
Electoral registers were not published during the war, so that hinders your search too.

10, Percy Street also looks to be rooms/flats in 1939/40

Appreciate the caution and noted.  I have a feeling these were all set as rooms or flats.  From the information about my biological grandfather he worked at ROF kirby.  I very much doubt there is a connection to the original owner but I will be mindful thank you

Hi Crisane
My father was put into the Catholic social services so unfortunately I don't have any of his parents papers.  The 1943 typed up notes from an application form dated 24 July 1943 state Alice was 22 and George Ed. Smith was 28 and refers to him as coloured.

Alice was never married to George Ed Smith

John sullivan and Alice Wright were married on 3 August 1942 at Mount Pleasant Registry Office Liverpool  I have no copy.  As Alice wasnt RC Fr Harvey from Maghull (assume St George's) was about to revalidate the marriage in the church but no other info
Looks like their marriage was registered in July August and September 1942 registered volume 8B page 253

I have a copy of my dad's baptism testimonial which has limited information and his birth certificate

Thank you
