« on: Saturday 20 January 24 16:13 GMT (UK) »
Hello after researching a very distant Cousin of mine it appears he emigrated to Victoria Oz around 1860 . William Boase b 1832 in Cornwall was a miner who ended up in Daylesford Victoria with his Wife Lucy . Now "Can anyone offer me any social history of the mining area blind creek in Victoria?". I would like to learn about his life there . Thank you all.

Do you want further information about William and Lucy's life?  You may already have these.

Trove has this account of Lucy's death in 1913

From the Ballarat Star newspaper
DAYLESFORD.
SUDDEN DEATH
Mrs Lucy Boase a widow, residing in Vincent street south died very suddenly at an early hour on Friday morning. The deceased was about as usual on Thursday until evening, when she remarked that: she did (not feel well, and thought she was getting influenza. She had tea and retired to bed early. During the night her son. hearing moaning got up. and going into his mother's room found her very.ill. He immediately went for a doctor, but on his return life was extinct. Deceased was a resident of over 50 years 'standing, well respected, and 71 years of age.

There's a photo of their grave here:

There is an article in this magazine about other Cornish immigrants arriving about the same time as William

In this magazine there is a mention of a book which you would probably find interesting although it looks as though it's out of print.  Published by Daylesford Historical society.  https://daylesfordmuseum.net/

Judith many thanks for your contribution/info on the Boase Family . It was interesting and I can add it to my f History files . I think the Boases had a sad life as i discovered that they lost children at young age whilst in Victoria. Apparently they must have become revered in there Community . The links reg Cornwall are enlightening so many thanks and best wishes .
