Commonwealth War Graves Commission are appealing for blood relatives of Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant John Briggs. Ayrshire Yeomanry - died 17 November 1917
The private memorial marking the grave of Regimental Quartermaster Briggs no longer provides adequate commemoration. The Commission are in the process of producing a new headstone to mark his grave.
Son of William and Jane Brown Briggs - husband of Margaret Briggs, of 18, Hunters Avenue, Ayr.
Served in the South African Campaign. Born Castle Martyr at Cork.

"BRIGGS.- Suddenly, at West Barns, Dunbar, on 17th inst., R.Q.M.S. John Briggs, Yeomanry, 20 Hunter's Avenue, Ayr, beloved husband of Maggie Murdoch.- Friends will please accept of this (the only) intimation.
