The Family found this Casualties List for his Pals Number 23988 but incorrect Initial- presume it's him as a Sgt
Yet Transferred to RFC as a  Cpl and Died as a Cpl
Yet they insist the Photo is him as a Sgt in the RFC

Per the RAF record he transferred to RFC as a corporal on 31 August 1917 and transferred from RFC to RAF as a corporal on 1 April 1918. It's possible that he was briefly a sergeant between those dates.

However the RAF muster roll (April 1918) gives the date of his last promotion as 31 August 1917.

The Medal Ribbon when he was a Cpl in the Pals matches the Sgt in the RFC - puzzling
