Richardson Thompson marriage
« on: Thursday 08 February 24 12:34 GMT (UK) »
Would anyone going to archives be able to do me a big favour and look at the original marriage entry for William Richardson and Dorothy Thompson at Newcastle St Nicholas 1 Aug 1803. Hoping to get some witnesses names, as these are not on the BT. Dorothy is my brickwall, as there are several candidates.
Thank you.

John Thompson & Thomas Brown.  Both of these people appear as witnesses on other marriages so possible church members

Wow, that was quick. Thank you so much.  :)

Fingers crossed John Thompson was a relation and not just a parish clerk. It gives a further avenue of research.

Thanks Colin.

I do have a lot on the family after the move to BP Auckland, so please don't spend more of your time on them.  :)

They had a very large family. If you are interested I have a tree on A*y ( Howe family tree) . As well as trying to work out which Dorothy Thompson is mine, other stumbling blocks are:
Their daughter Mary Richardson had an illegitimate daughter Margaret abt 1828, allegedly with a father called Robert Moor a coachman. I did try a possible Robert out on my tree to see if there were any DNA matches but nothing, so I have removed him. I am going to try a different Robert and see if any matches pop up.
I did the same with Dorothy trying on parents William and Mary who had children in Whickham and Gateshead/NCL at various churches, but again DNA did not show anything.
Of course Dorothy may only have thought she came from Gateshead and could have moved there as a baby.
