  on that write up of the pit accident, it says abt john chaple and his son, but also said .John Chapple aged 50 years of Naucherrow who left a widow and several children. He was a widower and his wife a widow when they re-married.
John Chapple aged 16 years, his eldest son.

 i cannot see any evidence of him being a widow or her as ive got his marriage down for 1840 in st just  saying bach ans spinster.
