Ancestry Question
« on: Friday 01 March 24 08:43 GMT (UK) »
Hello,if your Ancestry tree's are set to private in the settings  and the  private indexing is ticked as well does this mean that the only way somebody can access your records is by requesting access to your tree.
Thanks

Yes that is correct they can send you a message and you can send them an invite to view your tree if you think there is a close connection

If you tick the box labelled “ Also prevent your tree from being found in the search index.”

Nobody will see your tree in their search results so they cannot request access.

If you want the tree Found but Not Viewable then leave the box unchecked.

This is the setup you see in the search results “ No publicly available family members” “Contact tree owner”
