The 1911 Scottish census is pay per view - I used the free index & the following entries are easily found in Haddington

Sylvia, James snr , Mary Ann & Margaret Challis in Haddington.  Have you viewed them?

Just search Challis - East Lothian - Haddington & they are easily found

SP also shows Sylvia Alice Challis died 1919

Where are son James Challis Adams b 1889 & daughter Ellen Charlotte Adams b 1887 in 1901?
Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk
Carlin (Ireland & Liverpool) Doughty & Wright (Liverpool) Dick & Park (Scotland & Liverpool)

Thanks, I'll check that out.

Ellen C is possibly at school in Woolwich, so James C maybe also. He enlisted in the Royal Engineers in 1902
