Hi,
I'm going through some old family documents and thought this may be of interest. It is the membership card for my Oma from 1922. Here is some history which has been translated from Czech:
Tourist association Touristen Verein Die Naturfreunde was founded by teacher George Schmiedl in Vienna in September 1895. The idea was born during a hiking trip by like-minded people to Anninger near the Vienna Forest. In 1905, the international organization of this association was foundedin 22 countries. During the Nazi regime, the organization was banned in Germany and its members were persecuted. In Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia Branches (Ortsgruppe) were established soon after the founding of this association. They were incorporated into counties (Gau), e.g. Gau Nordböhmen, Gau Westböhmen, Gau Nordwestböhmen, Gau Mähren und Schlesien, Gau Tatra, a total of 8 in the whole of Czechoslovakia with approx. 8800 members ( status from 1932); at the end of 1933 with 10,000 members. Just like other mountain and tourist associations, Die Natufreunde founded its mountain huts and houses, with the difference that, for example, Alpenverein built mountain huts in the Alps, Die Naturfreunde built mostly in the surrounding area of their Ortsgruppe. That is, in various mountains and mountain ranges throughout Europe. In Czechoslovakia, in the Ore Mountains, in the Jizerské Mountains, in the Jeseníky Mountains and others.
She was in the Eulau, now Jílové Ortsgruppe of North Bohemia.
