Researching James Calvert born 1803 in Dumfriesshire Scotland
« on: Sunday 31 March 24 09:22 BST (UK) »
James Calvert emigrated from Scotland to Canada and married Marie, there are various spellings of her surname, Denshaw,Dunning, Dearing etc from Ireland while living in Canada.

Are there any Calvert historians that are part of this group?

My GGGrandfather was Francis Calvert and I believe that James may have been a half sibling of his.

Regards, June

Have you entered “Calvert” into the search box? (Above the photo in the banner)  There are a lot of posts it might be worth reading through.

There is an online tree that ties the two together altho' Francis is more than 20 years James' senior:

My thanks to you both. I have looked at a lot of the Calvert posts, so many originated from Yorkshire!

The father James appears to have been born c1751 and died at age 66 in 1817 so with having two wives this gap in the years could be feasible. :)

The Mother of Francis Calvert named on his Death Record from Scotlands People died in 1787, it appears that James would have been aged about 36 then. We are trying to put fact around this theory of the second wife for James.

I will have a look at the family tree, thank you Eileen.

Thank you Garstonite. Yes it is! So many family tree websites. I have joined and sent the family tree owner a message, although it appears that they may not know the history before he went to Canada. The Scottish naming convention is usually helpful and she may know the Maternal side of the family. :)
