Hello from Australia! Francis is my direct ancestor, father to William Kellion b.1812 Athlone. The family has links to The Berries which lies just to the north of Athlone, and they married the Ramsay's, both in Athlone and in Australia. The story goes that Francis was in the military, stationed in Athlone and married a local girl, Maria/Mary Thompson. But there's also a possibility that he was married when he arrived, possibly from Scotland, and brought his wife with him. I also have a Maria Murray as a possible wife. It's a long way back and all a bit messy, so thought I would reach out and see if any of you amazing people could lead me in the right direction? Thank you SO MUCH in advance.
Note: Kellion is the spelling that has been mainly used in Australia, and does show up in the Athlone area, but then, so do a few other versions. Thanks again! Donna Kellion.
