I have a list of authors who write genealogy novels, Goodwin, Tate, etc., but somehow our library never seems to have any of them.  Maybe they are just very popular.  I don't have or want a Kindle, so I'll just keep on looking every time I'm in the library.  Because of the loss of our village mobile library we now have to go to the nearest town and carry the books around with us.  Yes, I know that  could be a reason for buying a Kindle, but I still don't want one - I want to hold the book, turn the pages back and forth (and get it free from the library), not peer at a little screen.

Ask the library to check their catalogue for you.  It should be possible to request the titles you want, there will be a small charge, which may not be as small as it used to be.  (2nd class postage plus a bit, but they may use email!)

Stock should be rotated around branches every few months, if they still have anyone to do that job.  Send your comments to your local councillor, elections are coming.

Sumatra and Calibre can be downloaded free to your computer and can read ebooks and pdf files. No need for a Kindle.   In the CEX store in Irvine's shopping mall they sell refurbished stuff and they had an early version of Kindle for £20.
My local Library checks their files and locates stock from other libraries and requests them then emails me when they receive them.  Great for hard to get authors like Magnus Mills, etc!
hope this helps, cheers, Ian
