SULLIVAN FAMILY - Killyclogher
« on: Wednesday 03 April 24 16:48 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to trace the birt of my Gread Grandfather Patrick Sullivan.  I have conflicting date of birth from various sites.

His parents were Francis Sullivan and Mary Ann (Marion) Sullivan (nee Buchanan) and we think he was born in Killyclogher between 1878 and 1884.
They moved to Scotland at some point where Patrick married Elizabeth Storrie in 1906.
Patrick was killed in WWI at the Battle Of The Somme on 01/07/1916.

We have records that say he was 32 at the time of death (birth 1884?) and records that say he was born on March 25 1878 in Killyclogher.  We have no way of finding out which is correct.

I anyone can point me in the right direction to find birth or marriage records for Tyrone at that time I would be grateful.

Many thanks

MARK J SMITH

Probable match for the birth of Patrick - 25th March 1878 at Killyclogher, Omagh registration district, parents names match the ones you have.

Looks like Francis and Mary Anne married in Scotland as there's an index match for this combination of names on ScotlandsPeople, 1877 reference 644 / 1 / 14 in Bridgeton district (Glasgow). Scottish certs are quite detailed and include name of both mother and father for the bride and groom, you need to buy a few credit to access the full information.

A further search for births to this couple in Scotland shows an possible daughter Annabella born 1886 at St Rollox district (also Glasgow)

Thank you so much for your response and the birth record from Omagh is exactly what I was looking for.

After he was killed in WWI, Patrick's wife Elizabeth died in 1922 and their children moved from Glasgow to Dundee to live with one of her sisters.  Their eldest daughter Elizabeth is my grandmother.  Our whole family is from Dundee.  Thanks for the Scotland's People reference.  I have found this information previously it was only the information about Patrick I din't have.

Thank you again for the missing piece.
