Ellen Salmon c1856 Cork

I'm trying to find the baptism of Ellen Salmon who married John Megan in 1871 Dublin. Her parents names were given as John and Ellen. She later married Alfred Tomes in 1885. She's in the 1891 census b 1855 Dublin, (surname Tomes) living in Portsmouth, UK. She stays in Portsmouth till her death in 1931.
1901 b abt 1856 Cork,
1911 b Abt 1856 Cork,
1921 b 1851 Dublin.
I found a baptism in 17 Aug 1851, Cork parents John Salmon and Ellen Shaughnessy. Ellen's surname was deciphered by some helpful Rootschatters.
I'm not sure if that's too early but the information from the other records is confusing. Can anyone help with opinions/alternative information?

On the church record of Ellen’s marriage in Dublin her parents have the same address as her.
On the civil record her father is a pensioner, this usually means an Army Pensioner.
On what appears to be his death in 1880 he’s a pensioner but on what appears to be his wife Ellen’s death in 1888 she is widow of army pensioner.

If you can I’d look up his Army record if possible which would hopefully confirm where the family were from or living at the time of Ellen’s birth.
