Death of Herbert Ernest Woods
« on: Saturday 06 April 24 14:03 BST (UK) »
Good afternoon

I've hit a bit of a brick wall. I'm trying to find a death for the brother of my great-grandmother Herbert Ernest Woods.

He was born in Holbeach in 1879 (although the birthdate on the 1939 register says 9 June 1880).

He marries Elizabeth Mary Butcher in 1905 and they then reside in Wisbech.

In 1921 I believe they are living in Long Sutton and by the time I find him on the 1939 Register they are in Pennygate, Spalding.

People who also have him in their trees have his death in 1972 in Enfield, London. However I cannot figure out how they have linked this death. The death does infer a birth date of 9 June 1879 though which is the only link. However I also found the birth of another Herbert Ernest Woods in Islington in 1879 so this person seems more likely to be the London death than my Herbert.

I also find 2 potential deaths for his wife Elizabeth Mary Woods, one in 1953 and another in 1963 both registered in Spalding.

Any help in finding a death would be much appreciated. Thank you

Thats brilliant, thank you. At least now I know the 63 death is hers and that Herbert died after 1963. Think that's the address on the 39 register too.

Me neither, I searched the FreeBMD and also Ancestry and FindMyPast but nothing.

I honestly don't know with the children. They had 2 Eric, born  2 May 1920 and Edna born 12 Jan 1922. Edna is still living with them on the 39 register but Eric isn't so I'll have a look for him first.

121 Pennygate, Spalding was up for auction on 25th June 1963 according to the papers. Vacant possession on completion.
So looks like Herbert was moving.

So I've found Eric in 1939 and he's living in East Elloe district although it doesn't narrow it down any further apart from 71 High Street.

Oh that's interesting. I've found Eric in 1939 and he's still in the area at that time.

He could have been admitted to hospital in London and died there.

Could this be the death for the 1879 Islington birth
