Where & when was he born?  No birth on SP or freebmd

There is this tree on Ancestry but it does not fit with your info re Glasgow

Looks like he was born c1930 according to obituary but no mention of Scotland-

Shipping passenger list - Liverpool to Canada 1932 shows Raymond A Kirkwood (age 2) with his 4 siblings and parents Alexander Kirkwood (32, detective) and Elsie May (29)
Their last address was 41 High Park Street, Liverpool

The 1931 Canada census gives England as the birth place for Raymond and some other members of the Kirkwood family, although the father Alexander records his father born in Scotland.

Alexander Roy Kirkwood was born 24 July 1899 in Liverpool.
His father was William “Thomas” Kirkwood ( a dock labourer born abt 1874 Liverpool)
and his mother was Annie Maud MacKintosh (who was born in abt 1875 in Halifax Novia Scotia)
They married in 1894 Halifax, Canada.

Freebmd is only showing 2 Kirkwood/Fletcher births - Harold R 1923 & a female in Sept qtr 1932 (haven't named her in case she's still alive)
