Hello. I have hit brick-walls with these families (so much so that I haven't looked at them for a few years) – SCOTT & RUTHERFORD & would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Peter SCOTT b.1784 Scotland d.<1855 Scotland - Peter has been a brick-wall going any further back  into his history / ancestors
Listed as Farmer on son Jame's d/c

Marriage details from Parish No: 450 Volume 0020 Newburgh
James Scott, Labourer, residing in the Parish of Dunbarnie and Helen Rutherford,
residing in this Parish (Newburgh) gave in their names for proclamation for marriage
were proclaimed thrice times and married on the 25th day of May anent (1826)

1851 Scotland Census records John RUTHERFORD “Living at Black Rd, New Scone, Perthshire, Scotland. born: Forgandenny, Perthshire. age 71 yrs”

In which parish(es) were the children baptised? Have you looked at all the baptisms to see if the witnesses' names are listed and if so whether they provide any clues?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
