George Ward(born in England), soldier in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1865
« on: Tuesday 09 April 24 12:33 BST (UK) »
My great, great grandfather George Ward married Caroline Jane Mason, 9 July 1865 in Dartmouth, Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was described as a "Soldier".  In 1851, he was 17 years old, and he left England before the 7 April 1861 census was taken.  Can anyone help me with regards to his likely arrival?

He left Nova Scotia with his wife and 4 children, returning to England between 1874 and 1877.

Any advice welcome.

Thank you

Unfortunately many passenger lists prior to 1865 did not survive. Canadian passenger lists began being kept about 1865 onwards.

Have a read here :-

UK return passenger lists start 1878 - 1960
