Hutchesontown births and deaths
« on: Friday 12 April 24 17:19 BST (UK) »
From Scotland's People website I can see 4 deaths in 1901 with the surname O'Pray and mmn as O'Brien - all children aged 2 and under.  BUT I can only see 3 births registered in that area with the same criteria.  Would the missing birth registration be because the child died at birth, and therefore his birth was never registered?  Or am I missing something?

Oops, sorry.  Should have added that the 1901 census entry shows only 2 of the children, the 2 year old and one of the zero's.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

The 1901 birth reg for Thomas is on the index on SP, spelt O'PREY (1901, REF 644 / 11 / 1431, Hutchesontown).

Edward, John Henry and Margaret's births are showing as O'Pray.

The birth ref for Thomas indicates that Margaret and Thomas were twins.

Her ref: 644 / 11 / 1430
His ref:  644 / 11 / 1431

His entry followed Margaret's on the birth register it seems.
