Death certificate 1871 Limerick
« on: Sunday 14 April 24 06:57 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone
This is the death certificate for Hugh Gough who died 4 July 1871 in City of Limerick in the District of St. Michaels. The certificate was gleaned from the irishgenealogy.ie site
I am unsure of the address - it is something Path
Also I can't make out the informant's name.
Hoping someone can help.
Cheers
Suzanne

The death notice appeared in the Essex Newsman, 22 July 1871, and included " ... father of Mr. Richard Gough, drillmaster, Chelmsford, ..."

Could the first name start with E, the same squiggle seems to start the name Eliza in other entries on the same page.

I’m not sure the first letter of the surname is M by comparing it to other words on the page starting with M e.g. Mary and Margaret.

I wondered ‘Charles’ but appreciate very unlikely and wouldn’t put money on it (unlike the National yesterday when Ladbrokes pocketed my bet while my wife picked the winner…)

Look forward to the RC expert’s thoughts.

Thank you Calleva - hope your wife has enjoyed her winnings  :)
it is certainly a flourish for the first letter of the informant's name - it looks like a flower!
I am looking into whether there was a daughter and this maybe a married name.
cheers
