Explanation of BMD entry.
« on: Sunday 14 April 24 10:31 BST (UK) »
Good morning, I am trying to help someone with their family history. I cannot directly name the individual as they are still alive (I know rc's policy). This entry has me stumped as the person still alive has and confirmed dob of 1945.

Births Mar 1929
Jones    ****** *  mmn Parry    St. Asaph    11b   See D45     Scan available - click to view

I'm somewhat confused. You state that the person is still alive and has a confirmed birth date of 1945 but you give an example of a birth registered in 1929.

Did you click on the spectacles on freebmd.?

It says

This entry appears to be a late entry referring to the following
Births 1945 Dec: JONES, xxxxx Jones,St.Asaph,11b,209

mckha489, that's exactly what I did but cannot see a connection with regard to names.

I think the FreeBMD transcriber has got confused. The original GRO index entry with amendments is shown below. My interpretation is that Edward H Lewis born in Methyr Tydfil in 1929, died in 1945 (the D in D45) with the name Edward L Parry.  In other words someone else and not your person

That said, I can't see a death for Edward L Parry in St Asaph 1945. Thomas x2, Peter and John, but no Edward. Even if you go forward into the first quarter of 1946, Edward still doesn't appear.

Doesn’t the X just mean that is where the name should go on the alphabetical list.
And The D = Dec qtr of 45.

I think that the x's on the index image are just to show where the handwritten entries should go alphabetically.
There is a 1945 St Asaph entry for * * Jones mmn Parry but it is September quarter.
If you look at image it is See S45

I would agree, except that the part of the index I posted the image of is for the Q1 Births 1929. So if you were right it would be a correction/amendment in the wrong quarter and for the wrong type of event.
Either way I don't think this has anything to do with the OP's person born in 1945, who since they are still alive, can probably confirm when they were  born!
