Translation
Death of Johann Peter Joseph Diehl
where? in Wörrstadt, Herrmannstraße Nr. 196
when? 17 August 1865 1 a.m.
He was 82 years old, pensioner, widower of Anna Maria Diehl, born Dawkins (when alive living in Lymington, no occupation).
He was born in Wörrstadt, used to live in Lymington, but now residing again in Wörrstadt.
His parents were Johann Conrad Diehl, farmer in Wörrstadt, & Anna Katharina Diehl, born Wolf, no occupation, living in the same Wörrstadt.
Informants were Jacob Adam Kilian, 49 years, Police officer, living in Wörrstadt, not related, & Konrad Breiwogel, 55 years, farmer in Wörrstadt, neighbor of the deceased.
They appeared before Michael Schunk, mayor of Wörrstadt, on 17 August 1865 at 1 p.m.

The German document has the names Dakens and Lämerton. I found a tree on geneanet that offered the right transcription for these names, as they were phonetical 'guesses' made by the German Mayor. Dawkins became Dakens, Lymington became Lämerton.

Thank you from me as well.
Could someone please translate the 1783 birth record for him also?
I'm interested in the father's occupation and relationship to the witnesses.
One I think is father's brother Johann Andreas Diehl.

Thanks
Cathy

Not an easy one. Still a few blanks. Three times a shortened word in front of the names of father, witness 1 & witness 2. Is it a shortened form of Johann or Joseph or a kind of title?
I couldn't read the father's occupation. First witness is a brother of the father.
Is this register somewhere online? if I could read more of this, I might be able to answer some questions.

Thanks, Zefiro.
I think it's a shortened form of Johann which fits with the tree I have.
The word before religion I think is Rom C which also makes sense.
Transkribus came up with 'gewins mann' for occupation but I though it might be gewinr = profit.
Would that mean a businessman or tax collector?
The father of Johann Conrad Diehl was customs officer.
The records were sent to me from Germany, they are not online.

Here's another one from the same page where the occupation is a bit clearer (underlined) and the three words looks identical to the previous record.
