Completed - Trial Papers for William Miller 1856 Edinburgh
« on: Monday 15 April 24 14:47 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I'm wondering if it is possible for someone to look up the Precognition, trial, and minute papers against William Miller at the National Records of Scotland in Edinburgh. Not sure how many pages this maybe but he was accused of rape or assault on a girl under puberty.
The trial was in Oct 1856. Their ref: NRS Reference: AD14/56/146

I am sure this is my 2 x Great Grandfather, as age, area and parents are the same. So, to say I was shocked when I came across this record was a bit of an understatement. I would like to know the outcome of the trial, because as of yet I haven't found any records of him being imprisoned which if he was guilty, I'm sure he would have been wouldn't he? So, I'm hoping for the best but at present fearing the worst!

Thanks Mary

Oh my. Not the outcome I was hoping for. Feel a bit sick now to be honest.

Thanks for the info Ashtone.
