Looks like G W and the surname seems to be L [o/a] f [a/e] s

the full image would be helpful to see the rest of the writing to compare.
What date? whose brother in law was he ? that would help to find other records which may be written more clearly

There's a George William Lofas in the following census returns:
1901 Sculcoates, Yorkshire
1911 Bilton, Skirlaugh, Yorkshire
1921 Preston, Sculcoates, Yorkshire

Thank you for suggestions

tried to add a bigger version but it was too large to attach

The sculcoats man looks likely but i.ll have to work out how he  can be

John William DOBSONs brother in law  as the man I'm investigating had no sisters and worked on railways

For comparison of writing here is occupation & cause of death of deceased

still no idea what date this may relate to but I can see a marriage for a George William Lofas and an Alice Dobson Q4 1915, Sculcoates if that's any help

Is the James William Dobson you are researching the illegitimate son of Esther Dobson. His birth 1882  Morpeth.

I thought I was researching John William illegitimate son of Harriet but this death certificate indicates I've either got wrong death certificate or have been following wrong man

This is the John William DOBSON
That I'm investigating
Sent off for this death certificate as it seemed the most likely possibility but I don't think a railway worker would become a cowman

DNA Dobson connections suggest a different branch of Dobson's from Durham.much further back

I'd forgotten that I'd eliminated the George Lofas brother in law
