GRO Missing Years Death

Please could someone do a look up for a death for me, so that I can buy the cert.?

The name is Patrick Joseph Street, he died in Swansea in 1972

Do you have his date of birth,by 1972,if that info was known it was included in the death indexes.

You could consider contacting the Swansea Register Office.  Their email address is:-

registrars@swansea.gov.uk

You could ask them what the charge is to search the death register.  As you have his year of death it shouldn't take long to find if it was registered.

When in1972 did he die?  If it was late December it may have been registered in the following year, January 1973.

Have you thought to check the local papers for that time to see if there is any mention of his death there?

Freebmd has the typed indexes on their website.  I have checked these for 1972 & 1973 and he is not listed but it is possible he was missed off by the person typing the lists.

FreeBMD has the death of Joseph Herwood Street (dob 27 Oct 1892) in q1 1974 in Swansea.

I can't see any other Street in Swansea so although details don't match exactly, it might be worth checking this out.

Joseph is in the 1939 Register, single and names the other way round, Herwood Joseph.  Living in Swansea.

and born there too, it turns out.

I have seen lots of people gain and lose middle names over their lifetimes, as well as transposing the order of names, which is why I thought it might be worth checking.

Thank you for all the replies.

It was one of his children that told me the date and place.

I had checked for him on FreeBMd one time but didn`t try again as I realised it was in the missing years.

I`ve searched FreeBMD from 1970 to 1974 and came across a Peter Joseph Stack. The person who gave me the information wouldn`t have mixed Stack with Street.

It`s possible that the Heywood Joseph or vice versa on the 1939 is a query as I know for sure that  Patrick Street was Irish, but definitely in Swansea in 1950, but I`ll follow it up.

I`m going to tkae Girl Guide`s advice and contact the Registrar`s office.(if you order a death cerificate from them by phone it`s £35 !!! )
