Dorset Family History Society’s Zoom Meeting
« on: Friday 19 April 24 21:46 BST (UK) »
Tuesday 28th May 2024,  7.30 - 9.00pm ( Zoom log in from 7.15pm)

As Dorset FHS is in the midst of face to face monthly talks the Society is offering an additional meeting by zoom, so that those who live too far from Poole to visit, or can’t get to St George’s Church Hall can still join us!  For this extra meeting we will be joined by Paul Gaskell with an informative talk entitled ‘Published Sources for Family and Local History’.

Paul has been researching his family history for the last forty-five years. He served as a trustee and executive committee member of Oxfordshire FHS for seventeen years and, more recently, was Hon General Secretary of Oxfordshire Record Society for five years. Much of Paul’s working life has been spent as a trainer, tutor and coach, and this is experience that he now utilises for the benefit of those wanting to advance their family and local history research.

The talk considers the publications of bodies such as the British Record Society, county publishing societies such as the Oxfordshire Record Society and parish register publishing societies such as the Lancashire Parish Register Society, looking at the publications that exist, how to access them and how to use them to further one’s research.

Society Members who have consented to receive information by e-mail will find a meeting invitation link, and how to donate the £3 admission, in the E-News sent about 4 days before the meeting.

Those who do not receive E-News, or who are not Society Members, are welcome to join this meeting and should follow the link on the website www.dorsetfhs.org.uk or email liaison@dorsetfhs.org.uk to request an invitation link at least 6 hours before the meeting is due to start.
