Heywood of Stonylowe
« on: Saturday 20 April 24 16:45 BST (UK) »
Hello everybody,

Through my Cheshire yeoman family of Jackson of Middlewich I have discovered marriages that have led me to Derbyshire and Staffs!
I find I am descended from William Bowyer of Knipersley, who died in 1603, married to Anne Heywood, daughter of William Heywood of Stonylowe, gent, and Ann Beresford.
Try as I can, I cannot find anymore about this Heywood family - can anyone help?

Yes, I also found this. The borders are all very close around there.

I have some Heywoods around this area.
Not anybody from Stonylowe as such, but I do remember the name can be spelt in a number of different ways.
Have you tried looking under 'Haywood'; 'Hayward'; 'Hayward'; and even 'Heaward'?

Have you seen this?
The Bowyers were very high class. I have come across them before as land owners for some of my more lowly ancestors!
I found 'Knipersley' can also be spelt variously, especially as 'Knypersley'.

It's not just a photograph. It also gives some information about the family.
Is this your ancestor? Wow!

From the 1583 Heralds Visitation of Staffordshire - if you've not seen it.

And second page where Anne Haywood is mentioned

I just happened across this on the 'New' listings Gabriel.
Usually people put 'thank yous' on the post concerned so that all contributors see it - otherwise they might miss it, and it's always lovely to get a thank you!
I'm glad we were able to help.  :)
