Looking for Crome family when migrating from Australia to Canada
« on: Sunday 21 April 24 01:45 BST (UK) »
Hi,
My distant relation Raymond Michael Crome was born 4.8.1929 Balmain, Sydney NSW Aust and he married a lady named Beverley at Newtown, Sydney.   All NSW records show them living around Sydney up until 1968.

I am unable to find any shipping records for Raymond Crome travelling to Canada, but it seems that Raymond Michael Crome died on the 19th August, 2015 aged 86 years at Vancouver.

I have found an obituary notice for his death, indicating that he had been living in Canada for many years,  but just cannot really confirm that we have the right man in Ancestry records.

Would appreciate it, if someone may be able to assist me with arrivals in Canada please. Could be any time after 1968.    Regards Jan

The obituary gives his wife's and children's names. Also says "and a trail of family and friends stretching across three continents." So it does sound like the right man.

Will keep looking for when they travelled.

Hi, just briefly I would like to apologize for putting this posting up twice, it appeared that neither of them were going through at the time of posting.

Thanks so much for that information.    I just wonder whether any of the family remained in Australia, there is an event happening in Sydney before too long regarding one of their ancestors, which it would be great, if we could let them know.

Any other information provided would be absolutely great.

Jan

Maddy does it quote his occupation?    There was talk of him being an Artist.

I don't know how common the name is, however there is a person with the same name as one of the sons who works as Stage Supervisor at the Sydney Opera House.

No, I'm sorry, not on the entry that I can see.

On the Australian electoral roll in 1954 he is a chairmaker. A car driver in 1958. And in 1963 and 1968 a labourer.

Yes, I'm thinking maybe right.    Raymond Michael Crome's wife Beverley, maybe she was born in Canada.
