Susan Fisk 1851 census confufustion
« on: Sunday 21 April 24 11:37 BST (UK) »
In 1851 , I have a Susan Fisk , living on lordship lane , Stoke Newington. Middlesex.

She is living with her son James age 6 and her apparent mother , Ann age 77 !! The maths seems a wrong as Susan is 27 .

Would this be her grandmother instead ? I have been researching the wright family with dna and hit and miss trees.

I know ‘A ‘Ann is mother to Susan and Mary Ann Wright of Hackney (1823) and 1824 ( birth) I know there dad is William wright ..
How ever with this census record , this makes this Ann  much too old to be there parents …

I have found a marriage record for there sibling Elias Wright to Sarah Bridge that dad is William is deceased before 1838 ..

Can anyone help please ? Thanks 🙏

It's possible the enumerator has recorded her age incorrectly.
I'm not seeing much about the family at the moment.
Looks like Susan died in 1859 not that it helps much.

Susans husband was Anthony Fisk.

Yes I agree her Mothers age may be mistaken by the enumerator.

Found just 1 other child Thomas Wright b. 1817.
Looks like Elias was the oldest b. 1815 so mother could be
born around 1790.

I saw that one but as it's such a common name (& there are other William & Ann Wright's in London)
you can only go on father's occupation which doesn't appear on Baptism entries until 1813.
On Elias, Thomas & Susan's (Susannah) Baptisms he's a gardener, same on Elias's marriage.
Can't find Mary Ann's.

Caroline Wright was a witness at the Fisk wedding
Also T.  Wright,

But the deceased William at that marriage is a Carpenter.

a Caroline Wright married Edmond Saunders at Walthamstow in 1831. Only transcript on Ancestry, no witnesses listed. There is an Ann Wright of the right age with the Saunders family in 1841. So the Caroline Wright (if the sister) on Susan's marriage record should use her married name. Unless the vicar just asked Susan who the witnesses were and she just replied "my sister Caroline" and the vicar just assumed the surname was also Wright.
