Looking for Ann Cairney or Keaney
« on: Tuesday 23 April 24 16:11 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for any help with tracing Ann Cairney who is my Great x3 grandmother, and was born in Workington in around 1815. She apparently had her first child, Patrick at the age of 13, and spent most of her life in Preston Quarter, Whitehaven before dying in 1873 in Co. Durham.
I've not been able to find any information about her birth or marriage as these are pre-1837. \any advice on how to get this information would be gratefully received.
Many thanks

You would need to find a baptism record from church records, same with a marriage if pre 1837.

Who do you think she married and when?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

I think we'd need a little more info to try to help

Was Cairney/ Keaney her married name or her birth name?
If it was her birth name what name was used for her death registration in 1873, Durham?
Her death record would likely show the name of her husband.

1871 Ann Marrin, wid & son James in Usworth, Durham

There is this 1881 that would put Ann death in 1885

Name   Ann Marron
Gender   Female
Death Age   72
Birth Date   1813
Death Date   abt 1885
Burial Date   27 Nov 1885
Burial Place   Chester Le Street, Durham, England
FHL Film Number   1894227
Reference ID   65

WILSON, JAMES    mmn   MARRON
GRO Reference: 1880  D Quarter in CHESTER-LE-STREET  Volume 10A  Page

1881 - Usworth, Durham
Thomas Wilson 28 Head
Sarah A. Wilson   27   Wife, Whitehaven, Cumberland
Margaret A. Wilson 8 Daughter
Sarah A. Wilson 3 Daughter
James Wilson Son
Ann Morrow 70 Boarder Workington, Cumberland
Richard Morrow 27 Boarder, Whitehaven, Cumberland
John Morrow 26 Boarder "

John & Richard would fit as sons of Patrick from census.

Not locating a marriage or any baptisms for children. It is possible that Patrick was son of Richard only, as there is a large gap between first child & second.

Maybe try Scotland for marriage?
