Finding death date, or graves of my GG Grandparents in Malone
« on: Wednesday 24 April 24 17:30 BST (UK) »
Hi all

Just wondering if anyone can help. I have recently re created my tree on familysearch as the fan chart is so good and it shows any gaps in information so well. One gap is the birth and death dates of my GG Grandparents in Malone, Belfast. Their names are Robert Walker born around 1876 and Sarah Philpot born around 1877. In particular I would like to know where their grave might be. They were married in St
John's church so I'm guessing they could be in there. Are there any inscriptions to be had anywhere online? I'm quite far away and have young children so a visit wont happen for quite some time unfortunately.

Thanks

Marriage (1898) gives her father as Samuel Philpot (deceased).

Possible birth record - Sarah Ann Philpot born 4 September 1877 at Ballyfinaghy, Drumbeg (not far from Malone). Father Samuel ( a labourer).   MMN Hamilton

This page has some history to St John's, Malone http://malone.connor.anglican.org/history_page/history.htm

...but no mention of graves or cemetary so maybe it never had a graveyard. Did members of this church get buried in one of the belfast cemeterys, and does anyone have any idea which one?

Possibly them.
https://www.belfastcity.gov.uk/births-deaths-and-ceremonies/burial-records/search-for-a-burial-record
There is a Sarah Walker aged 41 in 1919 and a Robert Walker aged 68 in 1943 both Upper Molone in plot J226 City Cemetery
Find Robert and click on the plot number, others in the same plot.

Sarah’s death cert doesn’t give her address but it’s on the grave record

Wow thanks so much guys, that's amazing, never would have thought I'd get so much info.

Very sad though mind, I guess if he was buried with Sarah then they were reunited, albeit in time.

A great start to the weekend.
