Thanks for the help.  I will open another post in the Military Forum, as I am now getting more questions in my head for my Alexander McHardy.  I have various military records for him but the order doesn't make total sense to me.  Where are you getting the Aberdeen Militia newspaper clippings from Hanes?? - they don't come up on Findmypast....

Where are you getting the Aberdeen Militia newspaper clippings from Hanes?? - they don't come up on Findmypast....

They are on FindMyPast. Try using the advanced search.

Added..it also seems to give better results if you put “Aberdeen Militia” in the persons name box, rather than the keyword box.

The 1st clipping is from British Newspaper Archive - also available from FindMyPast.

The 2nd is from Gales' British Library Newspapers.
