address from 1921 census
« on: Wednesday 01 May 24 15:53 BST (UK) »
Afternoon gang, can anyone help me with this address please (red handwriting). It is for Egan (a brewery I believe although I can't find one in London) and although Fred lived in Mile End, I thionk he worked in Bermondsey.
Thank you in advance

Crucifix Lane.
There is a newspaper obituary in 1923 for Joseph Egan of Egans wine & spirits merchants of 9-15 Crucifix Lane.

Straight away with this extra information The London picture Archive identified   John Egan and Son London Ltd. was a wine and spirit importing and distributing company; the wines were stored in the arches underneath the railway. The Horns public house has existed since 1791 at 1 Crucifix Lane, the address renumbered as 12 Crucifix Lane and, since 1938, as 2 Crucifix Lane. What a supportive community RootsChat is
