Richard Hamer 1724-1802
« on: Thursday 02 May 24 13:31 BST (UK) »
Richard Hamer 1714-1750 & Rachel Haworth 1715-1758 - both born in the Bolton area and married in 1731.  They had  5 children born between 1736 and 1746.  Have the info.
Problem - Wikipedia states 6 children and the first was  Richard Hamer born "1724"and that the father Richard was 10 ad the mother Rachel was 9.  Saw this somewhere else and cannot remember where.
To me that is not possile.
Grateful if someone could untangle this mystery.
Note: As previously mentioned on other postings nor FindMyPast or Anc accept my italian debit/credit card - so I am restricted in my research.
Thanking you in advance for assistance.

Seems to be a couple of baptisms for a Richard Hamer in Bury 1723-1724 none the son of a Richard Hamer. One son of Robert and one son of Thomas. Looking at the tree on familysearch it looks a bit of a mess. Looks like people have had hints and said it must be right its a hint without applying any logic as to whether its correct or not.

Find My Past Transcription only
Rachel Hamer wife of Richard buried 3 July 1750. Manchester abode Turton.

This would seem to be the correct death for Rachel.

Richard Hamer buried 9 August 1750 abode Turton, Yeoman

So his wife died July and he died August both in the year 1750.

Using FindMyPast, ancestry, Lancashire parish records on line and FreeReg I can find only 4 children

Richard bap 15 Feb. 1733/34
James bap 26 January 1739/40
Benjamin bap 30 November 1746

Thomas    Buried 17 May 1742 of Richard and Rachel, St Peter, Bolton, Lancashire

ADDEd
Freereg has Rachel being buried 9 August 1750 which is actually Richard's burial date.

Raybistre - I never copy a "hint" without investigating.  I learnt my lesson many years ago. Going to look at that tree on familysearch out of curiosity. Thank you for your input - appreciated
amondg - Looks like Richard 1733/1734 is correct given his parents married in 1731 Turton.
Sorry my typing error - it is 1750 Turton.
1750 could died of a broken heart?
The other two children were Andrew 1736 and Joseph 1743.  Presume died at birth as no baptism.

I am very grateful to you both for the info.
