Going by previous releases it will be some months at least - I seem to remember the 2019 version was rolled out quite some time after the first announcement. "Pre-selling" the releases helps to fund the development/testing.

As with any software upgrade the important thing is to look at the changes being made and see if those are worth (to you) paying the difference for.

I just hope they fix some of the bugs and allow editing of the awful place name database. I've been wrestling with this thing since 2012 and all they ever do is add bells and whistles that somebody in the marketing department has thought up. If it wasn't for all the other family history software, this would be the worst.

I've been a FTM user for over 15 years, and I agree with what Steve3180 says. The only useful thing in the 2019 release was smart filters. The change log is an unnecessary hindrance. In the 2024 release there's nothing of any use. Oh well, I'll stick with FTM2019. No more upgrades for me.
