THOMAS OR WILLIAM DYKE

Helping a cousin with his tree we have got to Florence May DYKE born Q4 1879 Birmingham.
1881 census she is 1 yr old living at 7Ct 9 House Tower St Birmingham with parents Thos and Louisa DYKE. Thos was born1853 Alvechurch Worcester
1891 census she is 11with parents William and Louisa DYKE.William  was born1853 Birmingham
William Dyke    Age:   21 Married 14 Apr 1873 in Birmingham, St Bartholomew, Louisa Walker
1851 , 1861, 1901 and 1911 He is Thomas

I am mystified was he Thomas or William are there two families or one?

Birth reg given above shows her as Florence - not Florence May.  Mmn Walker

1873 marriage William Dyke/Louisa Walker

1877 marriage William Dyke/Laurina Walker

Both in Birmingham

I think this is his baptism in Alvechurch

but! 5 month old Thomas's son of Thomas and Elizabeth DYKE is on the 1851 census

So you have found 2 Williams and have I found two Thomas???

1881 has a dtr Lizzie aged 6 - birth Mary Elizabeth 1874 so the 1881 entry must be the 1873 marriage

Hooray a photo of the marriage certificate is on line and she gives her father's name a THOMAS his occupation was General labourer
So it still leaves the question  who was her father William or THOMAS how many families am I mixing up    HELP PLEASE

Hooray some one has put an image of the marriage certificate on line and it shows her father was THOMAS a general labourer.
So not William

was Thomas ever known as William?
 How do I go further back with any confidence?
