cardo wilison holland
« on: Thursday 09 May 24 02:23 BST (UK) »
cardo wilson holland later browning is my uncle through my late grandfather. he seems to have been born out of wedlock in 1908, his birth record however was amended & appears as birth being in 1941, he changed his name to that of my great grandfathers. Cardo was presumably born in auckland or northland new zealand in 1908, a cousin believes wilson may be something to do a company his father worked for , cardo doesn't appear short for anything, also believe the first name has something to do with his birth father, cardo died in 1982 in new zealand

Hi.
At the moment your query is a little difficult to folow.

People really cannot have their birthdate "amended" from 1908 to 1941.

If Cardo is your uncle, he will be the brother of either your mother or your father. Which is it?

OR. Do you mean he is your great uncle, being your grandfather's brother?

You have given a lot of surnames.
WILSON  ( or WILISON??) HOLLAND, BROWNING.

Which of these was his 1908 birth registration under?
What did his surname later become?
When  and how did these changes of surname happen?
What was the name of the grandfather?
What was the name of the great grandfather?

After that notice regarding the ballot for overseas service, I cannot see any record of service for him.

That's a good find Sue, that he was known as Wilson BROWNING. Another possible sighting, winning a school drawing and writing award in 1922:
https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/NA19220221.2.6 (near the bottom of the page)

There are also a few entries for Wilson C BROWNING in Wise's Post Office Directory - a possibility?:
1946 and 1947 - farmer at Onewhero
