I am trying to find the correct death date of my Eliza Whiteman
« on: Thursday 09 May 24 17:51 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the correct death date of my Eliza Whiteman who is my 2nd great grandaunt.
I have painstakingly sorted out her 2 marriages and correct children but have nothing on her after 1901 census. I am looking for information after that including her date.
Another Eliza in the area married a person of the same name in the same area with the same job which is making this confusing.

My Eliza
Jan 1850 • Heanor, Derbyshire, England
Name: WHITEMAN, ELIZA Mother's Maiden Surname: INGER GRO Reference: 1850 M Quarter in BASFORD Volume 15 Page 478

married William King in her first marriage
married Jan 1874 • Basford, Nottinghamshire, England to Joseph Pollard in her 2nd marriage (proven through DNA matches and documents)

Census
1901 Registration district   Basford
Sub-registration district   Ilkeston
RG13/3147/78 p 30
--

Joseph Pollard may have died in 1912 but I am not sure if it is the right Joseph

__

I am wondering when Eliza died if she re-married where she went after 1901?

---

1891
Heanor, Derbyshire,
RG12/2663/59
--

Possible death found ?
Deaths Jun 1929
Pollard    Elizabeth    79    Hayfield    7b   963

the right age but the 1921 census has this Eiza born in
Warwickshire, not Heanor

Joseph Pollard is a widower in the 1911 census, so ELiza must have died before that date.

Jason, do you have the reference for the 1901 census?

I think this is the 1901 census - at Burnt House Rd, Joseph and Emma POLLARD and family?

Presumably this is the other couple you mentioned?

Or did your Eliza die in 1891 and Joseph remarry to an Emma?

If you are interested, there is widely reported in a number of newspapers a case in 1885 where Jospeh POLLARD, lacemaker of Heanor was assaulted in relation to a trade union dispute. It says he worked for John Fletcher and Sons for 30 years.

Another mention of Eliza POLLARD, assaulted by Robert STAINSBY and Mary OXLEY in 1884. They can both be found within a few doors of the POLLARDS in the 1881 census.

Another Eliza in the area married a person of the same name in the same area with the same job which is making this confusing.

No there wasn't, your family is the only one in the area.  You can see the blended family of Joseph POLLARD and Eliza in 1881.  Joseph married firstly to Elizabeth SMITH and their children were John, Emma, Sarah and Joseph.  Eliza's children with William KING were William and Sarah.  Their children together after they married were Henry (infant death), James and Lawrence Frederick.

In 1891 they have added Florence, Beatrice and Henry, and these three youngest are with Joseph and his third wife Emma in 1901.
