Thank you, this was most helpful

I could see that something was wrong with the information I and many many other people had on  this. Yet I wasn't able to figure out what was right.

this looks much better now Thanks

I came across some other thing that is a possible error in people's trees

Eliza King / Pollard nee Whiteman had a sister named Mary Ann Fisher nee Whiteman. Whose family William king was living with in 1871.

Mary had a daughter William Mary Ann Fisher born 30 Mar 1865 Langley, Heanor Gate, Derbyshire, England

an image of her was posted with her married to a
John Henry Smith born 1863 died 1912

I was thinking this is possibly the same John Heny Smith that is the son of Joseph Pollards first Wife  Elizabeth Smith??? The are born the exact same year same first middle and last name.

Some people have John Henry Smith married to Hannah Elizabeth Longdon 14 Oct 1889 • St Laurance, Heanor, Derbyshire, England

(the bottom note is attached to the photo is by the person that posted it not me)

My apologies for this, BUT

Why are you incorporating other people's trees and thus querying your own searches?

PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND VERIFY IT.   8) 8)

Yes, that is exactly what I am in the process of doing here :)

You are right.

This is also why I posted questions of things I can't figure out.

I have thousands of people on my tree which I was able to figure out myself which I have not asked for any help with.

In the above photo somebody says this is my great grandparents, one being a John SMITH which is an extremely common name. They have attached it to the Mary Fisher who is attached to Mary Whiteman. Since I have no Idea who Mary Fisher married it is legitimate to see what somebody else posted and see if it is valid.

This is part of the verification processes.

To find the parents for John Henry Smith, your first step would be to look at the marriage record for this couple. Who is the father of John Smith? What is his occupation?
Then find them in the census records to see his place of birth and year of birth.
These are the basic first steps.
Jumping to conclusions based on assumptions, and copying errors on public ancestry tree, is not an effective way to research.

If you look at the marriage record, you will see it is NOT the correct Mary Ann Fisher, because the father is wrong.
