WW2 Letter
« on: Thursday 09 May 24 20:55 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I would appreciate some help with finding out more about what this letter is referring to. It was written by my Great Uncle. If anyone has an idea of what Section D, Petrol Coy of the 51st Highland Division was tasked with during WW2 I would appreciate the help.

My uncles details are -
John Henry Smith
1918-1970

Many thanks

Flora

If he wasn't injured, taken prisoner or killed during the war, it is unlikely there will be any records of him online. You can apply for his service record from the MOD: https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-records-of-service/apply-for-the-records-of-a-deceased-serviceperson

"sands at St. Valery" are written in the body of the letter.
He was one of the few to escape to England when the 51st Highland Division surrendered at St. Valery in June 1940.
