Scottish borders CdeVs for date and ages

Two photos from the same sitting, can anyone help to put a date on when they were taken and what age the respective sitters may be? No need for any restoration.

The photos were taken by A. R. Edwards of Tower Street, Selkirk.

Thanks Jim1, I'd noted the rounded corners but hadn't wanted to read too much into them.

The rounded corners really only confirm the date
the giveaway is the long bodice & (on the 2nd.)
the tight fitting lower sleeve so probable closer
to late 1870's than mid.

Thanks again, have you ever seen that form of pleated decoration on a skirt before? I didn't have any success finding anything similar though to be fair I wouldn't have known the appropriate term for it if there was any.

Thank you for that David, I was aware that the studio was still on the go in the 1940s or 1950s from a more recent sitter but wasn't aware when it had started.
