Ponciau/Rhos 1847
« on: Wednesday 15 May 24 18:35 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone,
I wonder if someone who has time could please help me with something.
David Davies aged 4 in the 1851 census with his father Edward Davies and his wife Hannah Davies nee Griffiths, also younger brothers Jonathon and Thomas living in Rhos.

The various census I have found him in give place of birth Ponkey, Rhos and Ruabon.
I have found birth details for all subsequent children but have drawn a blank with David.
I am not sure if Hannah is his mum or step mum as she and Edward were married in March 1847, (perhaps she was already pregnant)most census give his year of birth as 1847 with one giving it as 1846.
Any advice on how to try and go further would be great.
Thank you for your time.

Have you found birth registrations for the other children that confirm mmn as Griffiths.

Hello,
thanks for replying, yes I managed to get digital images from the GRO for the children on the other censuses, all with Hannah Griffiths as mother.

Have you got marriage details.
29 March 1847.Ruabon.
Edward was a bachelor of full age.
Hannah was a spinster and a minor, so both hadn't been married before.
Both abodes were Rhosllanerchrugog .

Civil registration was not mandatory at that time, hence one may not exist!

I was just wondering about that.

Freebmd has 2 transcripts by different people,  seems like Vikki had a problem with it.
As you say mmn Jones on GRO
