Louisa Bagley born about 1803
« on: Thursday 16 May 24 17:37 BST (UK) »
Looking for a birth and marriage for a Louisa Bagley. Births for children other than Rhoda would help.

A birth for a child in England & Wales, Non-Conformist and Non-Parochial Registers, 1567-1936 seems to say she was married to a Daniel Grant.

The child was Rhoda Grant but have seen Grand and Gaunt

Birth Date   23 Feb 1828
Birth Place   St Leonards, Shoreditch, Middlesex, England
Baptism Date   29 Apr 1829
Baptism Place   Shoreditch, London, England
Denomination   Independent
Father   Daniel Grand (Grant)
Mother   Louisa Grand (Grant)

In 1841 Census Bethnal Green, Middlesex, England has father as a shoemaker, Louisa id a "Binder" of some sort.  I can't read first part.

Three children

Rhoda Grant

Ann Grant 1837–

Daniel Grant Jr 1841– (Listed as age 7 months)

The spread in births seems odd so possibly missing some children??

Daughter Rhoda married Joseph Lee Barnard living Poole St  (1827–1879)  22 Apr 1847 St Mary, Haggerstone, Hackney, Middlesex.  He is a Turner and can sign his name.  She signs with a mark. She is living Abbey St. and her father is shown as Daniel Grant, Shoemaker.

Unable thus far to find Daniel and Louisa, or children Ann and Daniel Jr.,  on a census or other documents like a death or a marriage for children.

Louisa and son Daniel appear to be on the census twice in 1841 with the other reference at the Police Station House at Spitalfields where Louisa is listed as a Shoe Binder

Looks like there was another Grant/Bagley child, as well.

Who are the marriage witnesses? Any Grant or Bagley family members?

Thanks for the information.

Witnesses for marriage of Rhoda were James and Mary Sweet.  James Sweet appears as a witness to another marriage on same page. Rhoda is noted as a Minor but I thought she was 19 based on 1828 birth and 1829 baptism.

Thanks for added info.

Just found a Christening for Ann Grant.  Unable to view document.  Date fits her from 1841 Census.  Census only list birth as Middlesex .  Given the location of christening is St Leonard's, Shoreditch is the 1861 Census person a better fit.  Or is St Andrews Holborn Middlesex on 1851 a possible error or wrong info provided to census taker?
