I have trying to discover more about a friend's father. He was called William James White Irvine. She knows he was born in 1920 but we do not know his date of birth. She thinks he was born in Paisley, Scotland.

He died in London.

Any information on him would be greatly appreciated.

At https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl I can see a possible marriage for William J. W. Irvine in 1956 in Kensington district. If this seems like the right man his marriage certificate can be ordered from https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/app_select.asp

This would appear to be the index death registration. It gives his birthdate as 24 April 1920:

The original death certificate may give you a place of birth. If he was born in Scotland then www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/  is the best place to look for his info.
