Annetta Marie Siely
« on: Sunday 26 May 24 19:55 BST (UK) »
Trying to solve a mystery due to a child being put in a workhouse (unknown location).  Clarissa Marie Siely married twice, first to John Josiah Sadler and later to surname Juchau. Clarissa may have taken Annetta Marie Siely in from a workhouse and given her the first marriage surname Sadler, but unsure what the relation is between Clarissa and Annetta. Clarissa was born in Norwich or Yarmouth and her father was John Siely, an Excise Officer.
Annetta married Joseph Elisha, and Joseph Elisha was a witness to Clarisss's second marriage to Juchau.
What relation is Clarissa to Annetta ? Who are Annette's real parents ? Thank you for help.

Welcome to RootsChat

Just a thought - Did Clarissa Marie Siely live with John Joseph Sadler pre their marriage in 1866 and this was the family with daughter Annetta in 1851 living at Fox Street, Bethnal Green

John   Sadlar   Head   34   Cabinet maker   b Mile End Old Town
Maria  Wife 28   b Norfolk
Clara  Daughter 6   b Shoreditch, England
Anetta Daughter 4   b Mile End New Town
Mary   Ann   Daughter 1 b Mile End New Town

Hopefully Annetta's birth cert will clarify it

Kay

Added - possible birth of Mary Ann from the GRO Birth Index

SADLER, MARY  ANN      Mothers maiden Name SIELY
GRO Ref: 1850  M Qtr in BETHNAL GREEN  Volume 02  Page 73

Annetta and Mary Ann have different birth names

Annetta Marie Siely, mother's maiden name Sadler

Mary Ann Sadler,  mother's maiden name Siely

Not the same Annetta ?

People have a tendency to swap things around when they're registering births as if they're a married couple when they're not. Remember Clarissa Maria and John didn't marry until 1866.

In theory the other girls should Siely too

The fairly rare combination of the Siely and Sadler names makes me think Annetta is a child of that couple

Here's a right mess from 1861

Jacob Sudler  42   chairmaker b Mile End
Maria Sudler  40  b Yarmouth
Charlotte Sudler  16
Annelle Sudler   14
Mary Sudler  12
Louise Sudler    6

Just curious...what's the source of this detail? Is it family lore, etc?

Well found Mabel re the family in 1861

Siely - I agree  with Mabel that as the John and Clarrisa Marie were unmarried I think the use of the  correct suname for their children was confused when they were registered but Anneta's birth cert should confirm this

No ! Quite the reverse I'm afraid.  My grandparents didn't tell me anything as I think they were ashamed of workhouse listings.
