Yesterday I was trying to find more information on John Garden (or Gardiner) shoemaker of Aberdeen, who was dead before 1828. (This information is from his daughter Charlotte’s marriage to Thomas Watson that year in Aberdeen).
I came across a John Garden alias Shockey de Garden who was convicted of theft at Aberdeen in 1816 and sent to Australia. The alias intrigued me. I don’t know if he is my John Garden, probably not, but does anyone know more about Shockey de Garden? Even what the name might mean or originate from?
Many thanks,
Marlene
